Last month, the Amway Vietnam Nutrilite™ Power of 5 Campaign celebrated its one year anniversary.  The campaign, that serves the BAC Giang Province, is operated in collaboration with Vietnam’s National Institute of Nutrition (NIN).

A key to the campaign’s success is Nutrilite™ Little Bits™, a micronutrient power that provides undernourished children the essential nutrients they need to grow and develop a healthier brain and body. Each 1-gram packet provides children ages 6 months to 5 years with the 15 essential vitamins and minerals they need to survive, thrive and grow.

In its first year, Amway Vietnam provided more than 80,000 packets of Nutrilite Little Bits to more than 400 children, and provided much needed nutrition education for mothers and their children.

According to an annual progress report, after using Little Bits, children had positive changes in their height (rising 3.74 cm ± 4.02) and weight (increase of 0.72 kg ± 1.46). The proportion of stunting malnutrition at the time of the intervention was 22.8%, and after the implementation of Little Bits and nutrition education, the rate of stunting fell to 17.3%.

“We are very pleased that the initial results of the program display an improvement in the nutritional status of children,” said associate professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition. “With the efforts of the National Institute of Nutrition and Amway, hopefully more children in Vietnam will have the chance to grow healthy both physically and mentally.”

In 2016, the target was to work with humanitarian organizations to provide 14,000 children with Little Bits – so far, this year, the Nutrilite Power of 5 Campaign has served over 30,000 children in 16 countries. On October 16, 2016 (World Food Day), Amway set a new goal of serving 500,000 kids children in 20 countries by the end of 2019.

“Through meaningful programs for children, Amway hopes to help many Vietnamese children as possible, especially nutrition for infants and young children ages six months to five years,” said Leo Boon Wang, general manager of Amway Vietnam. “In collaboration with prestigious partners such as the National Institute of Nutrition, we look forward to helping Vietnamese children have the opportunity to achieve their ultimate potential.”

During year two, the Nutrilite Power of 5 Campaign’s goal in Vietnam is to provide more than 148,000 packets of Nutrilite Little Bits to more than 1,600 children.
